Beast and Bone specializes in osteological analysis of materials from the Pacific Northwest. Owned and operated by Laura Termes, [PhD](https://www.sfu.ca/megafauna.html), Beast and Bone approaches sites and remains with respect, sensitivity, and more than a decade of practical experience and formal training. Beast and Bone can provide osteological analysis at a detailed or overview-level in compliance with the provincial, federal, and repository guidelines using industry and First Nations best practices.

    ## On-site Osteology

    Beast and Bone can work on-site to identify osteological materials of all sources and ages, and various level of fragmentation, regardless of natural and cultural taphonomic factors.

    ## Analysis

    Reporting can include inventory of bone elements and species present. Osteometrics, pathology, butchery and any other relevant information will be provided where possible.

    Beast and Bone can work with your staff remotely to identify osteological materials to prevent unwanted stop-work scenarios.

    ## Repatriation

    I participated in a significant repatriation of ancestral belongings and remains from a large museum to a First Nation on the east coast of Vancouver Island.

    ## Remote Bone Identification

    I currently assist on projects by crown corporations, construction, First Nations, and the energy sector to remotely identify osteological remains to expedite existing work protocols.

- # Laura Termes, MSc

    Over the past 10 years I have participated in a wide range of osteology work, with a focus on First Nations and developer-initiated osteological identification and repatriation projects, involving animal and ancestral remains.

     I am currently completing a PhD in archaeology at Simon Fraser University, studying [ice age megafauna](https://www.sfu.ca/megafauna.html). Previously, I completed an MSc in osteoarchaeology at Bournemouth University. While based on the Northwest Coast, I am comfortable with local, native, and domesticated species from a variety of locales having worked on archaeological projects worldwide.
